If you want to enhance feelings of love, reach for Love Frequency. If you want to feel like the most powerful version of yourself, spritz on Cosmic Power. And, if you're just looking for a little boost of happiness, grab Joyphoria. Darlings, the queen of glam make-up, Charlotte Tilbury, has launched a ground-breaking line of mood-enhancing scents — and fragrances may never be the same. It includes six perfumes, each specifically created to inspire emotions such as joy, love and even something a little more intimate. Each one is unique, with scent notes ranging from soft jasmine florals to sexy musk leather bombs.

Membership Has Its Benefits

Paying for a new building to house the cars would cost tens of millions of dollars more. For more than 75 years Discovery Place has inspired curiosity, encouraged invention and moved millions of visitors to develop and pursue their passions for science, technology and nature. But these enhancements don’t change the fundamentals of operating teams, owners and executives said.

The museum has continued to grow with the expansion of the community, and the first Discovery Place Kids museum was opened in 2010 in Huntersville, North Carolina. Through public-private partnerships, the network continues to expand with a second Discovery Place Kids that opened in 2013 in Rockingham, North Carolina. The IMAX Dome was opened in 1991.[2] The theater-naming rights were secured by The Charlotte Observer. While we understand that part of the Museum being closed may affect your overall experience, we're dedicated to providing you with an exceptional visit during this transition period. Discovery Place Science is an innovative, hands-on Museum in Uptown Charlotte that encourages scientific exploration and creativity. Teams also must pay fees to enter each race, buy credentials for their personnel and set up their own hospitality suites at the tracks. However all the activities to get kids involved in makes up for any life exhibits. From biology, physics, chemistry to geology, kids can experience these science through play and experiment. A $18.7 million public-private venture between Discovery Place, Inc. and the City of Huntersville, Discovery Place Kids-Huntersville aimed to offer unique, learning-through-play experiences for young children. Through unique public-private partnerships, the network continues to expand with a second Discovery Place Kids opened in 2013 in Rockingham, NC. These fragrances are a little different than your typical perfumes — you're meant to spray or layer them based on how you want to feel.

In sporadic talks between the sides, NASCAR has offered a modestly larger share of its new broadcast contract to the teams. But it has balked at the teams’ request that it share revenue from any future money streams like gambling, and it has refused their calls to make permanent the charters that teams must own to operate their cars. The charters obligate teams to enter all their cars in all 36 Cup races and two exhibitions each season. The cost of hauling cars and flying race teams around the country each week is significant.

What I Like About the Charlotte Tilbury Fragrance Collection of Emotions

Teams must buy most of their car parts from single suppliers, and they had a lot of obsolete inventory that they sold for pennies on the dollar. The new parts are also less durable, lasting just four races or so, compared with the 10 races that the parts in the previous cars lasted for. The Next Gen cars have carbon fiber bodies that are more durable but cannot be repaired when damaged, unlike the metal bodies of the older cars, which could be welded and repurposed. Teams must now buy a minimum number of tires, which can cost more than a $1 million a season.

Since these perfumes are pretty pricey at $150 a pop, I'd suggest testing a sample or purchasing a smaller size to make sure you found your favorite before splurging on the full size. They also have a discovery set that would be perfect to test out all six fragrances. Although I would like to have more sex and increase my feelings of love, unfortunately, those weren't the scents that spoke to me. I felt most drawn to Joyphoria and Magic Energy, so I typically rotate the two of those into my scent routine. I spritz on my wrists, the back of my neck, down my shirt, and in my hair. Permanent charters would also help teams attract outside investors, who could help defray the costs of running the Next Generation cars.

The main reason, they said, is NASCAR’s reluctance to share more of its growing revenue with 23XI and the 15 other racing teams in the NASCAR Cup Series. When Michael Jordan and his right-hand man, Curtis Polk, bought a NASCAR team in 2020 with the driver Denny Hamlin, they were prepared to endure short-term losses. The Next Generation cars that were introduced in 2022 would cost top teams about $18 million a year to run before paying a driver, and their team, 23XI, had two.

There are lots of hands-on interactive exhibits that allow children to learn and had fun at the same time. My 10 year old loved trying everything out and would ask questions after trying one of the hands-on experiences...she learned a lot. They also have staff led demonstrations with things like liquid nitrogen that she found absolutely facilitating. Highly recommend if you are in the Charlotte area with children.

"We mourn for them and their loved ones. And we pray for the recoveries of the courageous officers who were wounded," the president said in a statement. He also called for more funding for law enforcement and for Congress to do more to combat gun violence. The city's police chief announced Monday night that a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer who had been wounded, Joshua Eyer, had also died.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said Officer Joshua Eyer died Monday night from his injuries. Eyer had served the police department's North Tryon Division for six years, the department added. Marshals task force were pronounced dead, according to Jennings. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police later confirmed that the officer critically wounded in the shooting died at the hospital. After a "long standoff," Jennings said officers cleared the residence and took two people inside the home, including a 17-year-old, into custody for questioning.

"When a president visits a community there are a lot of things that we have to work on and work with the administration and ... the secret service in planning these types of events," Saffo said. "We are forever indebted to Officer Eyer for his bravery and ultimate sacrifice," Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said in a statement. The president urged leaders in Congress to take action “to combat the scourge of gun violence” by banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines and by passing universal background checks, among other measures. Charlotte Shooting

A 17-year-old girl and a woman were in the home on Monday during the shooting and have been cooperating with officials’ investigation, the police said. Chief Jennings said investigators were still piecing together a timeline of what had happened. Larry Mackey, a retired firefighter who lives close to the scene, said in an interview on Tuesday that he believed at least 30 minutes had passed between the first eruption of gunfire and a second burst of shots.

Marshals Task Force, were killed and four other officers were injured Monday after being shot while attempting to serve a warrant in Charlotte, North Carolina, authorities said. The violent episode on Monday was one of the deadliest attacks on law enforcement in recent years. In July 2016, five officers were killed in Texas after an armed sniper opened fire in downtown Dallas during a demonstration against fatal police shootings. Four Dallas police officers and one transit officer were killed. The police killed the gunman, Micah Johnson, 25, with an explosive sent by a remote-controlled robot.

“Today we lost some heroes who were out simply trying to keep our community safe,” Jennings said at a news conference. By late Monday afternoon, police were questioning the two other people in the home, according to the department. Both individuals were brought to the police station as persons of interest, and now investigators are trying to determine what "exactly occurred inside of the residence," Jennings said.

How to Sell Your House: A Comprehensive Guide

selling your house

One study found that homebuyers on average negotiate for $14,000 worth of repairs. To avoid setting a house price at one level only to have it knocked down ten to twenty grand later, you can opt to order a pre-listing inspection for a more accurate picture of your home’s condition. Once you know who you want to hire, you’ll sign what will likely be an exclusive-right-to-sell listing agreement. This agreement serves as a contract between you and the listing agent, wherein you agree to compensate the agent’s efforts and to work exclusively with this professional for the purpose of selling your house. If the house sells before the agreement expires — usually a timeline of around six months — the agent will collect a commission fee at the specified rate. HomeLight’s Agent Commission Calculator shows the average national agent commission rate to be 5.8%.

Pass the home inspection

It should include a timeline, from the pricing of your house and getting it listed on MLS to personal showings. You and your agent should be on the same page at all times, and a plan of action will help ensure that. Even if you’ve never sold property before, you can learn the ropes quickly and make a successful sale. Get familiar with the cost of selling a home, the laws involved and the taxes required. You can also speed up the selling process by listing your property on the Mashvisor Property Marketplace.

Clear title

Under Civil Code 1102, California sellers are required to disclose anything about their home that would influence the buyer’s decision to purchase it. Once the price is settled, draft a listing description that will capture the attention of potential buyers. Mention the listing price and highlight any architectural features that make your home unique.

Start searching for homes

Ideally avoid selling during the winter months, especially in those limited areas of CA with heavy snowfalls and harsh conditions throughout the winter season. Buyers for these homes generally start looking in the spring, with an ideal “move in” date early June when the school year ends. Deviating slightly from the national average, those homes in northern Cali tend to move faster and for more money (on average) between mid-to-late April. This is due largely to the often harsh winter seasons in the northernmost region of the state. Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This influences which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page.

In recent years, technology has made it easier for companies like HomeLight to provide cash offers for homes and improve the selling experience with technology. Our Simple Sale platform makes it easy and safe to get a competitive cash offer. Now would also be a good time to estimate your home equity, which is the value of your home minus your mortgage payoff (a number representing total principal and interest owed on the home). Remember to add your phone number so potential buyers can get in touch about property showings and information.

Once you’ve completed this preliminary work, it’s time to find a qualified real estate agent to guide you through the rest of the process. Agents typically advise reaching out around two to three months before you plan to list, especially if you plan to do any repairs or updates to the home. Some states actually require sellers to have a real estate attorney to close on a home sale, but many don’t. Regardless of your state’s laws, the expense is worth it to protect such a large financial transaction. It may cost you a couple thousand dollars, but there’s a lot more money than that at stake, and it’s always smart to have a legal expert give everything the OK.

selling your house

The fundamental principle behind the MLS is that it helps brokers and real estate agents share information on the properties they represent for sale through a singular network. According to California Civil Code § 1102 sellers of real estate property must utilize a standardized format for disclosures, referred to as a “Transfer Disclosure Statement” or TDS. The TDS form can be found on the California Department of Real Estate’s website or provided by your listing agent or attorney. As kids (and parents) get back into the swing of things and a solid routine is established, we often see a small but significant upward trend in the market. But it’s not just the month or season you need to take into consideration.

From this point forward, the majority of work and obligations land solely on the buyer. They secure approved funding from the lender, purchase homeowner’s insurance and finalize appraisals. As per federal requirements, a lead-based paint disclosure must also be made for the proposed sale of any property that was built prior to 1978. Let’s break down the common expenses California home sellers can expect to face. Looking at actual data we can uncover which months are the best months to sell your home quickly in CA.

Should you pay to stage your home?

selling your house

But this compensation does not influence the information we publish, or the reviews that you see on this site. We do not include the universe of companies or financial offers that may be available to you. When determining how to sell your house, be sure to make decluttering and prepping your home a priority. Renting storage units is becoming an increasingly popular method of decluttering one’s house before selling it. The idea is to limit the amount of stuff in your space so that potential future owners can envision themselves (and their stuff) in it. Even removing personal photos is a great way to allow potential buyers to think about what they would hang on those walls.

One of the most important aspects of selling is finding a great listing agent. Ask which homes they’ve sold in your area, when they had to lower the price (and why), and what they’ll do to sell yours. In rare scenarios, get a reconsideration of valueIf the appraisal came in under contract, your gut instinct may be to call up the appraiser and ask about how they came up with that number. But appraisers can’t talk to you about the value of the home you’re selling (and they can’t talk to the buyers, either). The challenge to the appraised value has to originate from the lender, and better yet if you can bring evidence to the table in the form of comparable sales. Once you’ve accepted an offer, sign the offer agreement and submit it to the escrow and title company.

You can also advertise your home on Craigslist or on FSBO listing sites like Zillow, Trulia, FSBO.com, or HomeFinder. To get a good idea of your home’s value, look at comparable listings (real estate comps) in your neighborhood. The comps should be similar to your home in terms of size, age of construction, number of bathrooms and bedrooms, and amenities. This means that all funds, required forms, documents are accounted for and that any loans or liens have been paid off as part of the transaction. This process ensures that the new buyer will have a clean title prior to the purchase of the property. The MLS consists of a network of over 900 individual MLSs nationwide in the USA.

Fried Chicken Chain Bojangles Is Opening 30 Restaurants in LA in 2025 Eater LA

Fast forward to 2023, and Texas de Brazil had expanded to 63 locations and was worth around $460 million. In an interview with the Dallas Morning News, president Salim Asrawi told a pretty wild story of how — just 25 years prior — he'd been a 31-year-old entrepreneur with an idea that was so out there that he hadn't been able to get a bank loan to open his first restaurant. Instead, he'd appealed to a few family members who had believed in and bankrolled him. Expansions came amid a year of trending growth, with Guest XM ranking Capital Grille as among the top performers in sectors that included not only food but beverages, service, ambiance, value, and intent to return. It's led to them averaging a revenue-per-employee of more than $9 million, and record sales in 2023.

They're also leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of the pack when it comes to sheer luxury. When they opened their Charlotte location in 2020, it was an $8 million investment and led to the creation of 250 jobs. At the time, Hilario also noted that it was the biggest growth surge they'd ever seen.

Many nationwide restaurant chains are making a massive comeback, and they aren't just returning to pre-COVID levels, they're looking ahead to growing in an era when people just want to get out of the house and get back to normal. That's great news for everyone, from diners looking forward to a date night that doesn't involve Netflix, to industry workers who are looking forward to getting some kind of stability back in their lives. The general recommendation for sodium is 2,300 milligrams, this salad alone has 1,760 milligrams making it likely that you'll surpass the recommended amount. "This entrée salad has a good balance of total calories, it's not too high in overall calories that will make you go over a meal allowance and it's not too low in overall calories that it will leave you hungry soon after eating it," says Ehsani.

"It's one of the lowest calorie steaks you choose on the menu," says Roxana Ehsani, MS, RD, CSSD, LDN, registered dietitian nutritionist in Miami, Florida. In the last few years, it's the latter that STK — along with sister company, Kona Grill — has experienced, with reports sharing news of a shocking 50% increase in same-store sales between 2022 and 2019. And they did it in the face of extreme odds, with parent company (The ONE Group Hospitality) CEO Manny Hilario saying (via FSR), "All of this despite commodity headwinds, supply chain challenges, and labor shortages affecting the entire industry."

"It's topped with salmon, high in anti-inflammatory omega-3s, and a good source of lean protein. It's also not too high in sugar, as some of the other salads are." While exact revenue and growth numbers are difficult to pin down, it's safe to say that one of the best indicators of the success of this restaurant is that yes, they're opening new locations. It was still the early days of 2023 when they opened a Beverly Hills location, and if there's anything that says pricey, it's Beverly Hills. Yes, there's a raw bar, an in-house butcher, and a 3,000-bottle wine vault. Jeff Mastro is the founder of Steak 48, and he's staked (no pun intended) his reputation on his restaurants.

STEAKHOUSE

The 2020s have been a weird time, and it's probably always going to be remembered that way. It kicked off with a nightmare that came to life, and things changed in all kinds of ways when the pandemic hit. Countless restaurants went out of business during the COVID-19 lockdown, which put more pressure on an already competitive, cutthroat, and often oh-so-precarious industry.

In 2023, Brand Finance named them the fastest-growing restaurant brand, citing a whopping 56% increase in value over the course of the year, and that's pretty mind-blowing stuff. "Desserts are a delicious addition to a special dining experience. Like sodium, added sugar likes to hide especially in desserts. It's advised that men should have no more than 36 grams of added sugar per day and women no more than 25 grams of sugar per day," says Geiger. "The soft interactive dessert has over three times the daily limit and comes in at 111 grams of sugar making it a less-than-ideal choice when it comes to a sweet treat." "The Idaho Baked Potato may tempt your taste buds, but beware of its hidden secret; 12 grams of fat lurking within its crispy skin," says Geiger.

"Pairing an iron-rich steak with a source of vitamin C, which in this salad is coming from the tomatoes, actually helps you better absorb the iron found in the steak." "You can't go wrong with salmon, it's providing you with a lean source of high-quality protein," says Ehsani. "Salmon is rich in omega-3 fats which help to reduce inflammation in the body while also supporting both brain and heart health. This LongHorn Salmon entrée isn't too high in sodium compared to other dishes, hitting about 13% of your daily recommendations."

I Tried Every Steak at LongHorn Steakhouse & One Juicy Cut Stood Out

Having now tried all seven steaks on the LongHorn menu—each ordered to my preferred temp, medium rare—I have some strong opinions about which items are most deserving of your hard-earned dollars. Here's how every steak stacked up, ranked in descending order from my least favorite to the most sumptuous cut of all. Yet, unlike Outback, which is now banking its beef-searing future on high-tech cooking equipment, LongHorn still promotes the skills of its actual human cooks. For years, the chain has sponsored an annual Steak Master Series cooking contest, whereby grill workers from around the country compete for a $15,000 grand prize. The cinematic connection is one thing that LongHorn shares with America's other major casual steakhouse chain, Outback Steakhouse, which launched in the wake of the popular Australian-themed 1986 action comedy "Crocodile Dundee." Thousands of grill cooks from LongHorn’s 580-plus locations entered the competition.

"Choosing a plain sweet potato as your side option is a great way to increase your daily intake of fiber and antioxidants," says Geiger. "Most Americans don't meet their daily amount of fiber (25 grams for women and 38 grams for men). This sweet potato is plain and doesn't have any dairy making it a great pick for plant-based eaters whose families choose the restaurant." "Rib-lovers will be sad to hear, the Baby Back Ribs are likely the worst option to choose. The calorie breakdown doesn't even include calories for the BBQ sauce, which most people are likely opting for," says Ehsani. "Adding the sauce adds another 110 calories, 470 milligrams of sodium, and 26 grams of carbs. It's best to opt for half the rack over the full rack and pair it with some veggies." "Amongst appetizers, these Seasoned Steakhouse Wings are your lowest calorie pick," says Ehsani. The British chef recently introduced a few new dishes to the vibey restaurant, like smoked steak tartare, king crab ceviche, lobster Bolognese (which Collins likely picked up from his stint at Mélisse), dry-aged branzino, and grilled lamb lollipops.

LongHorn Steakhouse is one of the best-known (and fastest-growing) steakhouse chains in America. According to Statista, in 2022 there were a whopping 546 across the country—an increase from 386 just 10 years prior. And the most recent data from LongHorn's parent company, Darden Restaurants, reported that their same-store sales increased nearly twice as much as the other restaurants in the Darden portfolio, including Olive Garden, in early 2023.

Bojangles sells bone-in fried chicken, scratch-made savory and sweet biscuits, fried chicken sandwiches, and fried chicken tenders. “Fixins,” or sides, include mac and cheese, Cajun pinto beans, french fries, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, cole slaw, and even a tub of pimento cheese. Originally co-founded by Jack Fulk and Richard Thomas in Charlotte, North Carolina, the chain currently has over 800 restaurants. The company announced last year that it planned to open 20 more stores in the Las Vegas area.

So, naturally, this signature cut is bestowed with the restaurant's own name in its title. It's also the most expensive steak on the menu, costing me $34.49. The mammoth cut measured about an inch and a quarter thick and weighed over 18 ounces after grilling. Cutting out the bone left me with a good 14 ounces of pure beef. The classic New York strip is my favorite cut to cook at home, so I'm a little reluctant to order it when I'm dining out.

COVID changed the fine dining industry in some big ways, but if there's anything that can be said about Americans, it's that they're resilient. Fast forward a few years, and while the effects can still be felt, some places — including steakhouse chains — are bouncing back in big ways. The porterhouse is LongHorn's most massive hunk of meat, weighing about a pound and a half—a good four ounces bigger than the chain's other t-boned steak.

Vegetarians can get excited about Collins’s new mushroom Wellington with spinach and beurre rouge; and fresh-cut mafaldine pasta with wild mushrooms and arugula pesto. Boa Steakhouse has a new location slated to open in Austin, Texas, this spring. "If you love steak but also want some veggies to go along with it, this salad is a great option. It combines a lean cut of protein, sirloin steak (which is a great source of heme iron), and pairs it with lettuce and tomatoes," says Ehsani.

Fast forward to 2023, and they announced that a new Kona was going to be opening about every 4 to 6 weeks, while STK was making well above projected earnings. By the end of the year, STK was open in Salt Lake City and Charlotte, North Carolina, and plans were in the works for locations in Washington, D.C. They had plans to raise their numbers from 23 locations globally in 2021 to somewhere in the neighborhood of 200. In 2023, they were looking at stagnant sales in North America, while at the same time, South American restaurants buoyed the entire company and carried more than 80% of their business. At the same time, American locations saw fewer guests but higher sales. By early 2024, things had sort of stabilized, with traffic still down and revenue still up.

The marbling is evenly distributed in LongHorn's cut making each bit buttery and velvety. Depending on how you like your steak cooked, you could probably cut this with a fork. In addition to its steak, LongHorn is well known for its delicious rolls that come out before each meal, as well as its burgers, salads, sides, and of course – its margaritas. We remain committed to being a safe and reliable option for you and your loved ones, whether you’re dining in or ordering To Go.

Like its fellow Texas-themed rival, LongHorn is one of America's top-selling restaurant chains, reporting over $2.6 billion in sales last year. And it continues to stamp its steer-head logo on ever-more buildings across the U.S. Currently part of the Olive Garden family, aka Darden Restaurants, LongHorn has added 50 new locations over the past five years, with at least 15 more planned for fiscal 2024, according to the company's annual report. "This Strawberries & Cream Shortcake dessert is the lowest calorie dessert option on the menu, but overall it's still quite high in calories, fat, and sugar, so split with a friend or two," says Ehsani. "It is topped with fresh strawberries so you are getting some health benefits from eating the strawberries, like antioxidants and vitamin C." To help you make the most informed order when visiting this restaurant, we asked dietitians for a breakdown of the best and worst menu items available at LongHorn Steakhouse.

Of course, not every LongHorn cook is championship-caliber, as I duly found out while dining at different New York and New Jersey locations in recent weeks. Indeed, your steak-eating experience can vary wildly, depending on the location, the cooking method, and even which cook is wielding the griddle flipper on a given day. LongHorn Steakhouse is one of the most popular chain steakhouses in the United States, with nearly 500 locations across the country. The restaurant was founded in 1981 by a best friend duo in Atlanta Georgia. LongHorn Steakhouse is now owned by Darden Restaurant, a restaurant holdings company that also owns Olive Garden and Cheddar’s. Daily, include Gulf Coast Town Center and Market Square (anchored by Target and Barnes & Noble) in Fort Myers and on Trail Boulevard off Tamiami Trail North in Naples.

On the heels of that report, 2024 seemed as though it was going to be carrying that momentum forward. High numbers led to a nearly 20% increase in their stocks, and along with that, it was also announced that they were planning on opening at least 30 new restaurants by the end of the year. Texas Roadhouse, founded in Louisville, Ky., gets most of the attention these days, with its record-setting traffic and rapid growth. But, LongHorn Steakhouse, which first launched in Georgia, has been around, well, longer and boasts a similarly impressive national footprint, with 566 company-owned restaurants and another 18 franchised locations around the country. If there's one thing that Americans enjoy more than a good steak, it's a good steak served in a Western-themed atmosphere. In fact, two of the nation's largest, most successful steakhouse chains both take their style cues from the top cattle-producing state of Texas.

With that in mind, let's look at some of the fastest-growing steakhouse chains in the country. We took a look at not only projected growth for the coming years, but positive trends over the past few years, too. These restaurants are not only opening more locations, but they're hiring more staff, expanding menus, and in some cases, they're even offering entirely new services. Fried chicken and biscuit purveyor, Bojangles, which currently has strongholds in the South with restaurants in Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, announced that it will expand to the West Coast for the first time next year. Working with franchise owners Lorenzo Boucetta and Poulet Brothers, LLC, Bojangles plans to open upwards of 30 units of the cult-favorite fried chicken fast-food restaurant in Southern California, with the first one slated for Los Angeles County by early 2025.

Our full menu of signature entrées is always available, any time of day you crave. We'll include the restaurant's address, phone number and a link to this page. Great steaks are never more than a tap away with the LongHorn app. Boa, with outlets in West Hollywood, Santa Monica, and Manhattan Beach, has hired veteran chef Brendan Collins to lead the kitchen at all of its steakhouses. Collins previously worked at Fia and Fia Steak in Santa Monica, Waterloo & City in Culver City, and Birch in Hollywood. LongHorn Steakhouse, owned and operated by Darden Restaurants and based in Orlando, serves “steak as it was meant to be,” plus ribs, chops, chicken and more.

That might not sound like a lot, but Darden CFO Raj Vennam said (via CoStar) that caution was the name of the game, and not overextending themselves was key in a still up-in-the-air industry. He explained, "We do want to target as much growth as we can. Now, we're going to be disciplined in how we do that. We're being a little bit more selective, but still, we feel like we have opportunity [to open] quite a few [new locations]." The former Spartina space on Melrose Avenue has turned into the latest rebirth of Cobras and Matadors, which operated briefly on Beverly Boulevard before closing in February 2023. Infatuation added the Spartina-to-Cobras switcheroo to its new restaurant listings. While Olive Garden had historically been Darnden's flagship powerhouse, they actually reported a decline in sales. They were still growing strong, and were the only section of Darden's portfolio that reported growing sales numbers.

Legendary Steaks & Pairings

Read on to discover the healthy menu options that strike a balance between taste and nutrition—as well as what to avoid—to ensure a mindful dining experience at LongHorn Steakhouse. And for more, don't miss 10 Things You Never Knew About LongHorn Steakhouse. The success of Texas de Brazil predates the pandemic, and in 2018, it became the largest Brazilian-American steakhouse in the world. By making the most of services like DoorDash, they were actually able to weather the pandemic and increase their online sales by a whopping 58%.

"Plus, it's stuffed between a bun that also likely is made from refined flour, and doesn't contain much dietary fiber or nutrition. Finally, this sandwich is also very high in sodium, almost hitting your daily allotment of 2,300 milligrams." As this Orlando, Florida-headquartered steakhouse chain continues to surge in popularity, it's crucial to learn how to navigate its menu with a health-conscious lens. From juicy steaks to salads to desserts, the restaurant menu is stacked with both healthy (and unhealthy) options—and you should know the difference. Measuring the growth of a restaurant like LongHorn Steakhouse is a little more difficult. It's owned by Darden Restaurants, the same parent company that oversees Olive Garden, Bahama Breeze, and Yard House — to the tune of managing around 1,890 restaurants. In 2023, Darden announced that they were opening 100 new locations by the end of 2024, and while they didn't get into specific numbers, that included somewhere between 13 and 20 new LongHorn locations.

"At the time we opened the original Longhorn it was 1981 and the 'Urban Cowboy' movie was hot," McKerrow said, referring to the romantic Western drama starring John Travolta—a film often cited for making country music popular with mainstream audiences. LongHorn's "Honky Tonk atmosphere came along at the right time," McKerrow noted. You've got fluffy chocolate, dense chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate!

The eight-year employee is one of seven finalists competing for the chain's national grilling championship title and a $15,000 grand prize during a grill-off in Orlando on May 2. Food Huggers is a sustainable food storage company whose silicone sleeves wrap around the unused portions of avocados and other fruits and veggies. To report seeing smoke, but no flames, outside the building, Strongsville Fire Chief Jack Draves wrote in a news release.

But, LongHorn's version is causing me to reconsider that stance. While the chain primarily char-grills its bone-in steaks, the boneless strip is a standalone exception, and that flame-kissed flavor really makes a big difference with a noble cut like this. The 12-ounce strip cost me $24.79 and weighed about 9.6 ounces upon arrival. Fatty and flavorful, the ribeye is a very popular piece of meat. The 12-ounce seared steak cost me $25.79—about an ounce smaller and a few bucks cheaper than a similar ribeye at the nearest Outback. Upon arrival, it weighed 10.2 ounces on my digital scale and measured about 3/4 of an inch thick.

Larger garages were also required as an increasing number of households owned more than one vehicle. The next wave of construction in Los Angeles occurred during WWII as thousands of workers moved to the area to take jobs with defense contractors (Boeing, Lockheed, Douglas, et al.) as part of the war effort. For example, thousands of small, single-family homes were built in less than a year near Santa Monica Airport to house the workforce of 70,000 who manufactured and assembled aircraft there.

The style is based upon British townhouses but substitutes narrow clapboard siding or stone for the brick-and-mortar construction you might commonly find in the UK. Also brought over from British architecture is a focus upon (almost an obsession with) symmetry. A central staircase usually stands behind the front door, and window distribution is equilateral. Sometimes gabled roofs are tall enough to contain an attic floor with windows in the gables. With booming stock markets in the 1920s came a revival of this English Tudor and Medieval inspired style. These homes, often constructed in complex, decorative brickwork, borrow heavily from an eclectic palette of archaic features such as exposed wooden beams, tall bay windows, steeply raked roofs, and diagonal muntin panes.

As we grow our business, it is our plan to open up additional distribution facilities across the United States to provide faster delivery and superior service. The modern version of this style has settled into a somewhat less showy form. Roofs are commonly steeply raked, multi-level, and intersecting with windows set into their triangular front-facing gables. Grander homes might offer elaborately decorated wooden porticoes and eaves as well as turreted towers and sweeping verandas.

Wooden doors and window shutters, and decorative wrought iron adds to the rustic charm of these homes. Like the Mediterranean Revival style, garden spaces and courtyards blur the distinction between interior or exterior spaces. Unlike that style, roofs are sloped, and picture windows on the front fascia are not uncommon.

Homeowners often encourage climbing plants such as ivy or wisteria to add a decorative flourish. Windows are often tall and rectangular with multiple panes, and these homes contain at least two stories. Typical detailing includes simple Greek or Roman-style columns or pediments and square chimney stacks. Due to their steeply raked roofs, the front elevation of these homes conceals the sides of the building.

They were a popular type of home from the 1920s to 1940s, tending to have a smaller overall footprint (under 2000 sq ft) and often just one or one and a half floors. A standard detail is the decorative knee braces holding the extended eaves, from which hanging flower baskets are often hung. Windows on bungalows tend to be double-hung with single panes and simple wooden casements. These homes' interiors are often open-plan with built-in cabinetry incorporated into large fireplaces, such as benches on either side. House of Forgings brand iron balusters are known for being the highest quality balusters with the best powder coated and custom faux finishes.

A spokeswoman for the Michigan secretary of state’s office confirmed that this meant Mr. Kennedy would be on the ballot in November. Now, though, a Democratic president’s campaign is seeking to define him as a candidate who, despite his name and legacy, is more politically aligned with Mr. Trump than with the Kennedy whose portrait appears on those walls in western Pennsylvania. Still, given the tough re-election fight Mr. Biden faces, his campaign is moving forcefully, and the events on Thursday were the latest example of that. Members of this prominent Democratic family, including most of Mr. Kennedy’s siblings, had already signaled their support for Mr. Biden. I’m joined here today with my sisters, Kathleen and Rory, with Joe and Chris and Max.

Popular in America between 1915 and 1945, French-inspired styles were popularized by soldiers returning home from the World Wars. Transposed to the American colonies, the style has been simplified and rendered practical for local materials and climates. Choose from brass, stainless steel and satin black newel posts and balusters. Next choose a sleeve of contrasting color and finish to complete your design. Inspiration may also be taken from medieval church design with carved wooden exterior detailing, stained glass, and window pews.

Simple to construct and to extend, the Cape Cod style became popular throughout the US, particularly in the post-war era when the US government launched mortgage programs for returning servicemembers. A modern variant might include gabled dormers on the upper floor and decorative porticos with Greek or Roman-style columns. The architecture of that region, which spread quickly throughout New England, reflects this climate. Low eaves and ceilings and a large central, brick-built chimney keep these homes warm in inclement weather. A one-and-a-half-story structure without dormers is typical, as is the clapboard or cedar siding, window shutters, and side shingles left unpainted to weather in.

Inside, ceilings often feature exposed interior beams in a rustic style. These homes can be quite tall with steeply sloped roofs and multiple floors. They are often half-timbered, with wood paneling on the upper levels and stone or brickwork below. Modern versions of this style usually keep the low-angled, projecting eaves and large porches, whilst substituting more modern materials, exteriors with light colors, and additional upper floor space. The American Craftsman style is an indigenous form of domestic architecture based loosely upon the 19th century English Arts and Crafts movement.

Mr. Trump and his campaign had initially praised Mr. Kennedy’s candidacy, back when he was running as a Democrat against Mr. Biden. Now he is running as an independent, and with polls suggesting that Mr. Kennedy is taking at least some votes away from Mr. Trump, the former president has in recent days become more pointedly critical of Mr. Kennedy. Mr. Gunter, who is largely self-funding his effort and lent his campaign $2.7 million last quarter, faces his own challenges in his run. Low-pitched gabled roofs are an identifying feature of these homes, which tend to consist of a single floor spread out over a comparatively large floor plan. In a social media post last May, Mr. Smith impugned the process for checking voters’ signatures. Mr. Smith’s campaign website prominently features a section on election integrity and photos of him with former President Donald Trump and Kari Lake, a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate who has refused to accept the results of the 2020 presidential election and her 2022 defeat in the governor’s race. A senior director for the pro-Trump group Turning Point Action resigned from his post on Thursday and abruptly withdrew his re-election bid in Arizona, three days after being accused in a court complaint of forging voters’ signatures. Mr. Trump made several posts seeming to express his approval for Mr. Brown on Truth Social, his social media platform, this month.

The one thing that could sway the race, Mr. Muth said, would be if Mr. Gunter could earn the endorsement of Mr. Trump, who has not yet weighed in on the primary. “California Democrats typically support policies like defunding the police, opening our southern border and letting violent criminals out of prison, so it would be surprising if Gunter caught on in a Republican primary,” Mr. Berg said. Jeff Gunter, the ambassador to Iceland under former President Donald J. Trump, is unloading a $3.3 million advertising campaign with a MAGA message, according to his campaign, hoping to cut into Mr. Brown’s dominant lead over the crowded field. Ajax Forge Company has been providing quality , closed impression, impact die forgings for the commercial, industrial, automotive and aerospace communities from the same location, since 1939. In fact, it was the predominant residential architectural style in America until it was superseded by Ranch-style homes in the 1950s. He then encouraged the roughly dozen people there to volunteer for the Biden campaign, arguing that their help could decide the election.

Its name comes from a magazine founded in 1901 by furniture-maker Gustav Stickley, The Craftsman. Craftsman style flourished from about 1905 into the 1930s and remains a very desirable style of residence today. Hybrid cottage styles might include small porches and gabled dormers in attic stories.

We go into rehearsal in mid to late April so we don't want to start too early because we want to remain topical. The triplets are 14, and their little brother is 10. They seem to favor fart jokes and, sadly, that’s a very limited part of Squawks.

“People love to see themselves be made fun of or see their local politicians or sports stars be made fun of,” Kahn said. “If you’ve posted it on social media you are likely a target! This social media site called Nextdoor, the types of things and types of people that are on Nextdoor,” Kahn said.

As for hearing from politicians about what we've said or done to them, the answer is no.  Several years ago, House Speaker Thom Tillis was in the audience and we had already planned some fairly heavy punches at him. I warned him during the monologue and then as we were about to launch into our "tirade," I warned him again. His presence there while we were going after him, made the audience react even more than they normally would and he took it very well. When we first started Charlotte Squawks, we were very timid.

It’s “Saturday Night Live” meets Broadway meets our beloved Queen City! Celebrating the 14th edition of Squawks, the creative team of Mike Collins and Brian Kahn collaborate with the area's most talented performers to make fun of pop-culture, sports, life and politics – both local and national. Charlotte Squawks is an annual comedy stage show poking fun at politics, pop culture, sports and all things Charlotte through satire and musical parodies. The creative team of Mike Collins and Brian Kahn collaborate with the area’s most talented singers, dancers and actors to parody pop culture, politics, sports and our beloved Queen City. Rehearsals help the team figure out what works, and the cast members make suggestions, and, of course, news continues to happen, which means Kahn keeps editing and writing even during the course of the run. Kahn says finding the pictures that pop up on the screens around the stage to accompany the songs and news jokes also takes a surprising amount of time.

We started as a fund raiser for WTVI so we kept expenses to a minimum. It was a one weekend show and we spent as little as possible on it. The show that year and for the next several years was basically a night club show. Several years later, Blumenthal Performing Arts began producing the show and moved us from Spirit Square's McGlohon Theatre to the Booth Playhouse in Founder's Hall. That move – from a venue more suited for intimate music events to a legitimate theatre with fly space and a big stage – has allowed us to up the production values.

We weren't exactly sure how far we could go or how much we could take our local public figures to task. Early criticism of the show was that we didn't push the envelope enough so we gradually started crossing lines. The response has been overwhelmingly favorable to that approach. There's nothing quite like it so when a newcomer becomes part of the cast, they sometimes have this shell shocked look in their eyes for the first several weeks. Mike Collins, Charlotte Squawks host and co-creator , and host of the popular morning discussion show Charlotte Talks on WFAE, took some time to talk to us about the show, how it's put together, and how it's evolved since its inception.

Valid on select performances and price zones. We are committed to keeping the audience safe. We are following all local guidelines including the mask mandate. In addition, the facility has state-of-the-art air-replacement filtration and all cast, crew and staff are fully vaccinated.

I would love for them to write comedy if that’s what they want to do. I would like them to write complete sentences with properly conjugated verbs first, though. We chatted with Squawks’ co-creator (along with WFAE’s Mike Collins) Brian Kahn, lawyer by day/comedy writer by night, about the history of the show and what audiences can expect this year. Broadway meets "Saturday Night Live" meets Charlotte in this musical parody. Matt (Olin) and Tim (Miner) have helped out with generating ideas and writing for the videos the last two years. John Merrick and Jay Thomas do most of the video shooting and editing, and their creativity is pretty amazing as well.

It's a bigger, splashier show with a lot more show-biz to it. We've also expanded the run to 4 weekends which has helped immensely. We try to focus mostly on local issues though we don't turn a blind eye to national events and people, especially when we can find a local tie-in. The usual subjects are local and state politicians and personalities who have done something that we believe we can spoof or make fun of.

At nine years, Charlotte Squawks is one of the longest running shows annual shows in Charlotte. Part musical theater, part roast, the Blumenthal show continues to evolve with each year. Groups of 40+ receive one (1) complimentary ticket.

'Charlotte Squawks' is now playing at the Booth Playhouse The show, which features topics from politics to pop culture, is playing at the Booth Playhouse at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. Click the calendar icon below to add the event to your calendar. Well, that was 20 years and four kids ago, so I’m not sure I actually remember. I used to draw political cartoons and was in an a cappella group and musical theater in college … so you can imagine I have always been super cool.

I asked Kahn how his litigation practice has helped his work on the show. He said that careful writing and editing is very important to putting together Charlotte Squawks and is something he does every day in his law practice. He also noted that time management skills and learning how to work under deadlines are things that absolutely have helped with getting the production ready each year. We also started adding video segments a few years ago with former Mayor Pat McCrory opening the show on video the first and second years and then having him inserted into one of the numbers he was the subject of last year. There has always been a video component in terms of slides which we have enhanced this year by the addition of three more screens and more video during the show. “We were very afraid in the beginning of making the slightest bit of fun of anybody in Charlotte and we found in time that the meaner we got, the better people liked it,” Collins said.

It actually changes in small and sometimes big ways from night to night so the actors, musicians and technical staff have to be flexible and ready for anything. The hilarious CHARLOTTE SQUAWKS returns with THE 11TH GLOWER, playing at Booth Playhouse at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center for 17 performances June 5-28, 2015. This musical parody pokes fun at Charlotte and the nation with uproarious performances featuring original lyrics set to well-known songs. In answer to your question about WFAE, I was going to say that is never a consideration but really, it is.  Mostly in the tone of what we do. Although these two endeavors are not connected I do have a reputation to protect so the tone of what we parody can sometimes reflect that. Also, the show has grown in terms of its production values.

As it is, we usually have to change lyrics or add and subtract songs and topics from our list even after rehearsals start because of the fluid nature of events. This is the only regularly produced original show in Charlotte and the only original musical. The script we hand the cast at the first rehearsal changes substantially by the time we open and beyond.

This is all pulled off by an incredibly talented cast – in fact, a former Charlotte Squawks performer is now on Broadway. The show also includes two “news” segments along the lines of what you’d see on Saturday Night Live and video parodies of TV commercials, sometimes featuring local politicians. “It is a comedy, it is a satire about all things Charlotte. It’s kinda like Saturday Night live meets Broadway because it’s a musical number and they are all songs you know, we just changed the words,” Collins said. Head writer Brian Kahn knows exactly how to twist those words to bring the house down.
