Regent Seven Seas Grandeur builds on luxury of 2 sister cruise ships

Though high fares mean passengers must be well-heeled to sail on Voyager, we found our fellow passengers to be surprisingly down-to-earth and friendly -- not the jet-setter types who flaunt their wealth. With so many destinations and itineraries to choose from, your next luxury holiday could be closer than you think. Whether you stay overnight or are in port for the day, your toughest decision will probably be choosing which of the complimentary (and unlimited) shore excursions you would like to do first. Onboard, you’ll find a range of elevated and unique experiences designed to appeal to the line's cultured and well-travelled clientele. For example, why not learn how to recreate dishes from the places you're visiting at the Culinary Arts Kitchen – Regent's state-of-the-art onboard cooking school? This is arguably the ultimate souvenir as it lasts forever and the dishes you make back home will bring back wonderful memories of your trip.

As he showed us the steps to the dish, Stephano recalled growing up in an Italian household in Philadelphia, where his grandmother would parboil enough pasta to last a week. Home from school, he would pop some out of a freezer bag and make his own after-school snack. In the hourlong class, the lemon pasta and crepes my fellow students and I made were a success, aside from a few burnt crepes. Chef John Stephano guided our group through recipes for pasta al limone and French crepes with a rapid-fire, friendly and energetic approach. Back again is the Culinary Arts Kitchen, a staple borrowed from sister line Oceania Cruises, but a massively popular offering that lets 18 students create memorable dishes under the guidance of a chef team. The egg is revealed as seven branches break away like waves that represent the Seven Seas.

CURATE YOUR JOURNEY

On the final evening of the cruise, when everyone is busy packing to go home, the dress code sensibly is "relaxed casual." You'll also find specialist guest lecturers onboard to enrich every trip. Spotlight Voyages take this concept one step further with a range of programming tailored to special interests like war history, winemaking or tracing your ancestors as you explore the lands where they once walked. A voyage on this ship, or any of the others in the Regent Seven Seas Cruises' fleet, is sure to be an experience that's worth writing home about.

After taking in panoramic views you’ll reach your final destination—one of the popular boutique wineries where you’ll taste exquisite flavors in the midst of unmatched scenery. Take a step back into Ireland’s storied past while travelling through the streets of Dublin en route to the Guinness Storehouse. Upon arrival, you’ll learn about the ingredients and process that go into making a Guinness. Your tour concludes with a Guinness of your own while overlooking spectacular Dublin views. My pasta al limone, topped with basil and Parmesan, turned out intensely lemony and creamy. My crepes, cooked in clarified butter, were amazingly thin from following Stephano's technique, and they were delicious topped with powdered sugar, blueberries and allspice ice cream.

Universal ticket offer: Florida resident 2-day passes good for 4 days

On March 22, 2023, was opened for booking RSSC's ever-longest World Voyage (themed "The Sense of Adventure") planned for the Mariner ship. Eventually, NCLH canceled all RSSC cruises leaving between March 14, 2020, and mid-September 2021. Due to the COVID pandemic, NCLH's entire fleet (all vessels of the brands NCL-Norwegian, RSSC-Regent and Oceania) is with an expanded cancellation policy.

I have been through at least one cooking class on a cruise ship where the dishes were so hard that I felt inept, even like a bit of a failure. But these recipes were achievable and also something I'd be excited to try to make again at home. Regent isn't the only cruise line with culinary class kitchens, but having taken classes on both the Explorer and the Grandeur -- and on quite a few other ships -- I find Regent's to be among the best. The 18-station version onboard the Grandeur, and the classes it offered, did not disappoint during a two-night cruise from Miami in January.

The line has three older ships and just had two larger vessels ordered by parent company Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, but they are not due until 2026 and 2029. Cruising is a popular way of traveling for many people, offering a unique experience that combines the convenience of a floating hotel with the excitement of visiting multiple destinations in one trip. In an average year, over fifteen million people say "all aboard" and set sail on an amazing vacation. Seven Seas Voyager is a relaxing ship with a cultured but informal ambiance and a high crew-to-passenger ratio.

Reception offers currency exchange on some occasions -- from U.S. dollars to euros, for example. In warm weather, the action moves to the lido deck (Deck 11), home to the pool, a grill, a bar and the La Veranda buffet restaurant. At night, three lounges and a cigar bar offer different vibes, from mellow to lively. Complimentary fitness classes and a focus on mindful living will keep you looking and feeling good as you explore the world with like-minded travellers, indulging in the things that bring you joy.

Or, discover Asia on the 61-night Grand Asia Exploration Grand Voyage from Auckland to Tokyo on the Seven Seas Explorer. This voyage takes you through New Zealand, Australia, Bali, Singapore, the Philippines, and more, with overnights in Melbourne, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Shanghai, and Osaka. Experience the Grand Continental Sojourn, an 84-night journey from Barcelona to Sydney aboard the luxurious Seven Seas Navigator.

Most onboard services are grouped here, making for easy access to the front desk, destinations desk, library, casino, shops and espresso bar. As is the case with Regent's Explorer Class ships, all the cabins on the Small Cruise Ship Class vessels are suites. Seven Seas Voyager and Seven Seas Mariner are all-balcony ships, too. One big difference, though, is that these three older ships don't have the truly giant suites found on the Explorer Class ships. The biggest suites on all three of the vessels are in the 1,000-square-foot to 1,200-square-foot range. All three of the ships also have an elaborate Serene Spa & Wellness Center with treatment rooms and a relaxation room.

Jeans aren't allowed in restaurants or lounges in the evenings. Among standout features, all Explorer Class vessels have an elaborate cooking classroom, which doesn't exist on older Regent ships. Dubbed the Culinary Arts Kitchen, each of these venues has 18 individual cooking stations tricked out with top-of-the-line induction cooktops, stainless steel sinks and all sorts of cool cooking equipment. They're backed by floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the ocean.

Seven Seas Grandeur launched at the end of 2023 and elevates the line's 'standard offerings' (which are anything but standard) to a whole new level. Highlights include a 1,600-piece art collection including an exquisite Faberge egg, elaborate new production shows and more than 130 dishes created exclusively for the ship. The latest innovations in technology and wellness also take centre stage, like a zero-gravity wellness massage that takes place on an amber and quartz crystal bed -- one of Seven Seas Grandeur's invigorating new spa experiences. Explorer Class vessels also offer a wide array of elegant and high-end restaurants, all included in the fare.

That fare though, included air from most major gateways in the midwest and east. I don't remember paying more than 2 dollars for a drink on board. It was a grand ship, with Greek officers and a European service staff. As stated the food had a French flair, and was terrific, and high calorie. Regent Seven Seas Cruises is always on the lookout for ways to cruise responsibly, with five pillars guiding the line's Sail & Sustain strategy.

All RSSC cruise customers are provided complimentary with re-useable Vero Water bottles (Regent-branded, 1 per person) to be used ashore and after the voyage to take home as a souvenir. The ship has 15 suite categories, all with their own balconies. The pinnacle of sailing options is the 4,443-square-foot Regent Suite at $11,000 a night. It features a $200,000 Hästens Vividus custom handmade mattress, an in-suite spa retreat with a personal sauna and steam room and 270-degree views from the ship’s bow from a 1,292-square-foot wraparound veranda. Those passengers get their own butler and personal car and driver in every port.
